As Melbourne grows, the train network is an increasingly essential part of moving people around every day.

We know that having a clean, safe and punctual train journey is important to you, so that's where we're putting our focus.

We currently transport around 400,000 people every day, keeping them connected to work, school, family, friends as well as Melbourne's major events. Over the next 10 years, the number of people who use the train will double, so we're working hard to build the network to meet the demand.

Having an efficient and responsive timetable that meets the demands of Melbourne's growing population is paramount, and we regularly revise it in partnership with the Government.

There are 38 new X'Trapolis trains arriving as part of the Victorian Transport Plan, some of which have already hit the tracks taking customers.

We will transform the network into a 'metro' style operation so that we can transport more people, more often with less cancellations and less delays.

But this major transformation is not an overnight process. It takes time to do an important job, and do it well.
